Mahogany, brass, back-painted glass. Made by Giordano Chiesa for the offices of Vembi Boroughs. Sculptural desk featuring three top locking drawers, four drawers with shaped wood handles and inset glass top. Appears to have been recently refinished. Original patina to the brass. Very good condition. This desk has been authenticated by the Gio Ponti Archives.

*The 1952 Casa Zucchi commission allowed the architect duo Ico & Luis Parisi free reign in not only designing the house but all of its contents. That work was so prominent as to be recorded in no fewer than eight publications during that time. Each architect's distinct touch is revealed in the architecture, interior design and furniture of the villa which is often mentioned as one of their finest works.
Ico, who was once an apprentice to Giuseppe Terragni, and Luisa, a student and friend of Gio Ponti, processed these influences to turn the home into a surprising synthesis, echoing Terragni's rationalism and Ponti's expressionism. The delicate vanity and its attendant side chair in matching carved Italian walnut, both exude a sense of dignity with a light touch. These same qualities are present in other outstanding pieces throughout the villa. *Text by Brian Kish.

Rationalist desk from a small group created for the offices at Vetrocoke Glass Company. Incised walnut with 3 drawers on each side. Thick inset glass top. Very good restored condition. Rare Desk & Chair by Donald Deskey

Walnut, copper-plated steel, fabric. A rare desk and chair designed by Deskey that is most likely a custom variant. The production version of this chair was done with aluminum bands. This example was created with steel bands, making it a much more substantial and unusual set. Published: Donald Deskey, Decorative Designs & History. Custom 8 Drawer Desk by Gio Ponti

From a small edition created for administrative offices in Forli, Italy. Blonde wood desk with red linoleum top, shingled drawer faces and brass cuffs at feet. A great, graphic form that rarely turns up. This desk has been registered with authenticated by the Gio Ponti Archives.

Very nice condition. Blonde wood has been recently refinished and the original linoleum top has been touched up.
